All government-licensed nurseries may reopen from Sunday (October 25), announced the Labour and Social Development Ministry.

Minister Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan said that parents who chose in-person learning for their children may send them to their nurseries, while following the precautionary measures in force.

The move is based on the latest updates which are periodically assessed, and in line with the recommendations of the National Medical Taskforce for Combating the Coronavirus (Covid-19).

In a statement, the minister stressed the importance of the adherence of nurseries’ owners, staff and parents to the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health to protect public health, especially that of children during their presence at nurseries.

The circular highlighted the precautionary measures to be followed, including mainly the daily sanitisation of nurseries and the mandatory wearing of face masks for the staff, but not for children.

Parents are requested to prepare their children’s food and drinks at home, as buffets and celebrations and birthday parties will not be allowed at nurseries.

The Labour Ministry’s relevant teams will carry out random inspection visits to nurseries to verify their commitment to precautionary measures.
