Bahrain pool rental company sinks in dispute

A Bahraini court has ordered a man to pay his female partner BD 27,000 as compensation for failing to share profit, with the court also ruling to dissolve the company.

The compensation also includes court expenses, said the Fifth Circuit Commercial Court.

Incidents leading to the case occurred when the plaintiff and the defendant established a joint venture company.

The deal was to set up a pool for swimming and recreation with the plaintiff having 90 per cent stake and the defendant holding the remaining 10pc stake.

The plaintiff paid the defendant BD 31,000, as the defendant placed BD 3,100 as his share. She also created a social media account for promotional purposes. The plaintiff went ahead with the promotion believing the defendant who said that their facility was up and ready for renting. However, the plaintiff accused that he failed to produce any bills or account statements or rental documents of the pool when asked.

The defendant also failed to share the revenues generated, the plaintiff told the court, with her moving court to dissolve the agreement.

Plaintiff’s lawyer Dr Muhammad Al Kooheji said he had filed a request in this regard and appointed an expert to find out the profit the company made during the period and plaintiff ’s share in it.

The court following a hearing ruled to dissolve the partnership and liquidate the company and return the plaintiff her share.
