Al Zayani hails China efforts to enhance Gulf co-operation

Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani has praised China for its relentless efforts and prominent role in enhancing joint Gulf co-operation.

Dr Al Zayani took part yesterday in the joint virtual ministerial meeting between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and China, which was chaired by the UAE’s Foreign Affairs Minister Shaikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and China’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi. GCC secretary general Dr Nayef Falah Al Hajraf also attended the meeting.

Minister Al Zayani delivered a speech in which he expressed gratitude to his Chinese counterpart on his keenness to develop co-operation and promote existing relations between the GCC member states and China in all fields. Underlining China’s prominent regional and international strategic role, Dr Al Zayani expressed Bahrain’s appreciation to its positive stances towards Arab issues and keenness to establish peace and international security based on mutual respect and non-interference in the internal affairs of countries. In this regard, he appreciated China’s welcoming of the signing of the Abraham Accords Peace Agreement between the UAE, Bahrain and Israel in September.

He also reiterated Bahrain’s firm stance on the principle of unified China and its sovereignty over all its lands and the Kingdom’s support for the Belt and Road initiative.

Minister Al Zayani stressed the importance to continue strengthening and developing relations between GCC states and China in various fields.
