Bahrain determined to enhance women’s economic participation

The Supreme Council for Women (SCW) secretary general Hala Al Ansari held a meeting with US Embassy charge d’affaires Margaret Nardi.
They discussed the kingdom’s effective participation in the Global Development and Prosperity Initiative for Women, which represents the first comprehensive government effort for the economic advancement of women globally, and aims to enhance opportunities for women to participate in the economy and promote prosperity and security worldwide.
Al Ansari stressed the keenness of the SCW, under the presidency of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of HM the King, to join all international efforts aimed at enhancing the presence of women in economic affairs, and to exchange experiences and best practices within the framework of the Kingdom’s unwavering endeavours to promote global efforts that sup- port various women’s issues.
Al Ansari highlighted the progress made by Bahrain in terms of women’s economic participation, raising their participation and sustainability in the labour market, as well as ensuring that they meet the requirements of advanced science, and instilling a culture of innovation in them.
The meeting also touched on the Bahraini Women’s Day 2020, which will celebrate women in the diplomatic work, and highlighted the importance of women’s participation in peace-keeping missions in accordance with UNSC Resolution 1325.
The American chargé d’affaires expressed her country’s admiration for the efforts being exerted by the SCW, stressing that Bahrain’s record in the field of support for women qualifies it to be a trustworthy global partner in women-related issues.
