Renowned UK-based trainers George Baker Racing announced yesterday a long-term partnership agreement with Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC).
The deal includes the establishment of a permanent yard at the REHC premises in Riffa in the coming months.
The announcement comes just a few days ahead of this year’s £500,000 Bahrain International Trophy, which is to be held on Friday as the second running of the prestigious global event at REHC.
George Baker Racing founder George Baker commented: “We are hugely excited at the official announcement of a long-term partnership between Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club and George Baker Racing, which signals our long-term commitment to horseracing in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and we look forward to the establishment of a permanent yard in the coming months.
“We have been very impressed with the commitment and vision of REHC. The quality of the field for the upcoming Bahrain International Trophy is testament to the quality of the racing surface and the facilities on site, and we are excited to become a part of an ambitious and burgeoning horseracing jurisdiction.”
George Baker Racing has 70 horses in training and are approaching their 400 career-winner mark. Having the owners engaged and involved with the process is something that they believe is key at their state-of-the-art racehorse training facility in the UK.
Baker has trained horses that have included a Royal Ascot winner with Belgian Bill. He has also had winners in Dubai, Turkey, Ireland, France, Germany, Belgium, and Switzerland and on the Channel Islands.
Runners have also performed with credit in the US, Scandinavia and Spain.
