Bahrain Crown Prince, Prime Minister chair weekly Cabinet Meeting

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today chaired the weekly Cabinet meeting, held remotely.

At the beginning of the meeting, HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister delivered a speech expressing his loyalty to His Majesty the King, pledging his commitment to continue realizing Bahrain’s national objectives.

HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister praised the “great contribution made by His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa to the Kingdom’s national development”.

The Crown Prince committed to reinforcing the principles upon which the government’s development efforts are founded, including ensuring responsiveness and excellence in government delivery, whilst fostering competitiveness and transforming “challenges into opportunities, and opportunities into achievements.”

The Crown Prince also outlined the government’s priorities in relation to the education system, housing for citizens, sustainable healthcare services, and efforts to increase economic growth and continue the Fiscal Balance Program.

His Royal Highness closed his speech by thanking all those who have contributed to Bahrain’s COVID-19 response, which has protected the Kingdom and placed it at the forefront of country responses worldwide.

During the meeting, the Cabinet extended its appreciation to the international community, the Kingdom’s citizens and residents for their sincere condolences following the passing of HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa

The Cabinet also congratulated the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its leadership on the success of the G20 Riyadh Summit.

The Cabinet noted Saudi Arabia’s key role in facilitating multilateral dialogue and cooperation during a unique and challenging year.

A number of submissions, memorandums and proposed laws were discussed during the meeting.

The Cabinet outlined the following outcomes:

Firstly: The Approval of the following memorandums:

1. The memorandum of the Government Executive Committee on the National Audit Office Report for the year 2019-2020. HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister ordered the referral of 8 observations to the Public Prosecution, 10 observations to investigation committees, and relevant ministries to follow up on 215 observations.

2. The memorandum of the Ministry of Housing on housing projects updates.

HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister ordered the distribution and allocation of 5,000 housing units to citizens, and the initiation of the construction of 3,000 housing units at East Sitra housing city, and the acceleration of housing services.

3. The memorandum of the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning regarding the acquisition of twenty-two properties for urban planning and urban cultural development, in order to facilitate traffic movement in a number of areas, adhere to planning standards, and complete infrastructure projects.

4. The memorandum of the Ministerial Committee for Legal Affairs on government responses to a number of proposals submitted by the Council of Representatives.

Secondly: The Cabinet reviewed the following topic:

1. HE the Minister of Interior’s report on the death of three sanitation workers whilst undertaking maintenance work at the Bani Jamra area. HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister ordered the Minister of Interior to take the necessary legal measures in light of the findings of the report.

Thirdly: The Cabinet noted the following:

1. A report submitted by the Minister of Education regarding Bahrain’s participation in the 26th General Conference of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States.

2. A report submitted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs about the official visit to the State of Israel.
