HM King appoints special climate envoy

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa issued Decree 82/2020, appointing the Chief Executive Officer of the Supreme Council for Environment, Dr Mohammed Mubarak bin Daina, as a Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, with the rank of minister.
The Prime Minister, and those concerned – each in their jurisdiction – shall implement the provisions of the decree, which takes immediate effect and will be published in the Official Gazette.
The 48-year-old is an advocate for the protection of the environment. He has done scientific research on Environmental Evaluation of Food Waste, in collaboration with the University of Cambridge. He is also a member of the Environment and Wildlife Award Authority.
He has been holding the top position at the Supreme Council for Environment since 2014. An engineer by profession, Daina has received several scholarships abroad as well as awards in Bahrain, among them a medal from HM King Hamad on the Kingdom of Bahrain’s National Day.
His Majesty King Hamad also honoured him for presenting Masters Dissertation in 1999.
