Bahrain has earned the respect and admiration of the world once again following the successful staging of two major international events recently.

The Kingdom hosted both the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2020 and the Formula 1 Rolex Sakhir Grand Prix 2020, on successive weekends, at the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), and the 16th IISS Manama Dialogue, the region’s leading security summit.

In view of this, the Cabinet extended its congratulations to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, during its weekly meeting yesterday, held remotely and chaired by Deputy Prime Minister His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa.

The Cabinet noted the tremendous efforts of the Kingdom’s national workforce in organising the F1 races, which reflects the country’s global reputation as a successful hub for international sporting events.

The Cabinet also highlighted the success of the Manama Dialogue, which covered discussions on regional and international challenges, and explored solutions to further strengthen stability and security.

In essence, successfully staging these events was a “triumph” for Bahrain under the shadow of coronavirus (COVID-19).

HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister leads the Kingdom’s fight against the pandemic, which has also won it international plaudits as a leading example of how to effectively handle the global health crisis.

And hosting the F1 races and Manama Dialogue was part of that aggressive approach to show the world that the Kingdom is, indeed, one of the safest places to be at this challenging time due to all the safety measures put in place.

While once again showcasing its capability to stage the most popular motorsport series in the world, Bahrain proved it could mobilise a force of several people and ensure they remain safe, along with the race drivers and their entire teams.

Likewise, organisers of the Manama Dialogue showed how it was possible to keep things under control during the pandemic.

Participants from around the world, including ministers, chiefs of defence and intelligence and the expert and opinion-forming communities who were either involved or interested in the Middle East’s most pressing security challenges, were all kept safe and had the best conditions.

Bahrain is proud of what it has achieved in playing host to these two important events, and at the same time in leading from the front to contain the coronavirus.
