Report of bomb hoax at Bahrain Embassy denied

Authorities denied the news about the detection of a bomb planted in Bahrain Embassy in Oman yesterday.

Bahrain Embassy in Oman stated on its official Twitter page stating that “the embassy denies the circulated information on social media networks, regarding the detection of a bomb at the embassy’s headquarters.”

The embassy also requested the public to not spread false news before verifying it.

The statement followed the widespread of reports claiming that “the embassy was booby-trapped and that the Omani security authorities have secured the building.”

“The Royal Oman Police (ROP) and other security units sealed off the entire embassy district in the capital following a bomb threat at the Bahrain embassy on Tuesday morning,” UAE based Gulf News newspaper reported.

Quoting an Omani official source, the report said, “It turned out it was a hoax. The operation centre of the police received a call reporting that there was a suspicious object found in front of the Bahrain Embassy at 10am. Upon examination, the object turned out to be a copy of the Holy Quran. An investigation is underway into the incident.”
