A pedestrian bridge will soon be built to link the first and second stages of the Saada project in Muharraq and will be funded by the Zamil Group. Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Eng. Essam bin Abdullah Khalaf and Bahrain Real Estate Investment Company (Edamah) CEO Amin Ahmed Al Arrayed recently signed a memorandum of understanding finalising the implementation of the project.

Minister Khalaf said that the importance of the project lies in its being a complement to the Saada project by building a pedestrian bridge that will link the old Muharraq market and the waterfront of the western part of the Saada project, which was among the last contributions of the late His Royal Highness the Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa aimed at restoring and developing the features of the real estate landscape in the country.

The pedestrian bridge will facilitate the movement, ensure safety, and reduce traffic congestion, as the bridge will be planned and designed according to the approved specifications and requirements related to security and safety. A team of engineers from the Ministry’s road sector and Edamah Company will lead the implementation of the project during the construction period.

They will also coordinate with all service authorities to facilitate obtaining the necessary licenses and approvals. For his part, Edamah CEO Al Arrayed said: “We are proud of this achievement, which culminates in our cooperation with the Ministry of Works and the Zamil Group, and we thank both sides for their work and support.

“Our keenness at Edamah continues to provide the best efforts to develop the “Saada” project, which received the patronage and attention of the late His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and the follow-up and directives of His Excellency Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Development Projects and Infrastructure. “We are very honoured to continue the development process in achieving the vision of the late His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa, and to preserve the success and prosperity of this strategic project."

Al Zamil Group Managing Director Al Zamil said: “We express our pride in supporting the esteemed government to finance and bear all the costs of constructing a pedestrian bridge that link two strategic projects. This comes in response to the needs of citizens, residents and tourists. Creating sustainable value for society through community initiatives that serve the community and the nation is our goal.”

The signing of the agreement was attended by Works Affairs Undersecretary Eng. Ahmed Abdulaziz Al Khayyat, Municipal Affairs Undersecretary Engineer Sheikh Muhammad bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Al Zamil Group Managing Director Walid bin Abdullah Al Zamil, Engineering Roads Assistant Undersecretary Hoda Abdullah Fakhro, Engineering Affairs Adviser Eng. Muhammad Al Salah, and Edamah Company Business Development head Dr Fahad Abdulrahman Al Saad.

Under the supervision and directives of the late HRH Prince Khalifa Edamah, the real estate arm of the kingdom’s sovereign wealth fund had the honour to work on many major national projects under the supervision and directives of the late HRH Prince Khalifa.

“Saada” is considered one of the most prestigious and largest real estate development projects in Bahrain, and is set to be one of the main components of the diverse real estate portfolio of the Kingdom’s esteemed government, which in turn is one of the most important tributaries of the national economy.

The late HRH Prince Khalifa personally named this strategic project “Saada” because its noble goal was the happiness of the people of Bahrain and the people of Muharraq in particular, and he followed closely the stages of its completion. This project will connect the old market of Muharraq with the picturesque waterfront enhanced with entertainment, tourism and commercial services and facilities via a pedestrian bridge, and its innovative designs combine open spaces with modern buildings.
