Under the patronage of Transportation and Telecommunications Minister, Chairman of Directors’ Board of National Space Science Authority (NSSA) Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, NSSA announced the list of four students who were selected to represent Bahrain in the International Space Camp, which will be held in the state of Alabama, US, during the summer of 2021.
This came within the framework of the efforts made by NSSA to achieve its vision set by His Majesty the King, to place the Kingdom in the ranks of advanced countries in the field of space.
The students were chosen after reviewing their academic performance and following the criteria set by the Kalman International Foundation. The selected students are Amna Al Busmait from Al Estiqlal Secondary School for Girls, Reem Al Hamar from Al-Iman Private School, Menwa Al Muqahwi from Al Hidd Secondary School for Girls, and Nawaf Abdul Rahman from Hamad Town Secondary School for Boys.
“Today we witnessed the launch of a new initiative by NSSA to achieve one of its strategic objectives, which is to spread awareness in society about the importance of space, its sciences and its applications, especially among the youth, and this initiative is the fruit of long efforts launched since 2018 on the sidelines of Bahrain International Air Show,” the minister said.
