HM King directs Ministry to implement national vaccination programme

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s directives to provide safe and free COVID-19 vaccine to all the citizens and residents is part of the royal comprehensive humanitarian care for all those living in the kingdom.

This was emphasised by the Cabinet during its weekly meeting, held remotely yesterday and chaired by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister.

The Cabinet praised HM the King’s directives that added a further layer on the Kingdom’s comprehensive pandemic response. The National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA) said on Sunday it had approved a COVID-19 vaccine developed by China National Pharmaceutical Group (Sinopharm) and launched online registration for the vaccine for citizens and residents.

In this regard, the Cabinet directed the Ministry of Health to expedite implementation of the national vaccination programme. Citizens and residents above 18 years of age could register online by visiting the website: https://healthalert.gov.bh to receive the vaccine for free.

NHRA said it had officially approved the registration of Sinopharm vaccine after the submission of all related documentation by G42 Healthcare, the company’s exclusive distributor in the Middle East and North Africa.

The NHRA’s decision to approve and use the vaccine is based on the clinical trials data conducted across several countries, which was thoroughly reviewed and evaluated by the Authority.

The Representatives Council’s Bureau has lauded His Majesty King Hamad’s directives to provide safe and free COVID-19 vaccine to all the citizens and residents.

During its meeting yesterday, held remotely under the chairmanship of Speaker Fawzia bint Abdulla Zainal, the Bureau commended the efforts made by the National Medical Taskforce for Combating Coronavirus, and Team Bahrain, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to take all pre-emptive and precautionary measures to ensure the health and safety of everyone.

The panel affirmed that the Representatives Council will hold its regular weekly meeting today, via video conferencing, out of its keenness to ensure the continuity of the parliamentary work to serve the nation and the citizens, and in line with the recommendations of the National Medical Taskforce for Combating Coronavirus.
