Tamkeen sets up Violation and Fraud Reporting unit
Tamkeen chairman and acting chief executive Shaikh Mohammed bin Essa Al Khalifa said yesterday that the agency has set up a Violation and Fraud Report unit. The unit will monitor all transactions working closely with the Ministry of Interior. He added all Tamkeen interfaces now promotes the hotline number “992”, to which public can report any frauds.
Shaikh Mohammed said that the new unit would focus on proactive and reactive approach. Tamkeen will work in coordination with LMRA, Anti-Economic Crime unit, Social Insurance organization, the Ministry of Labour and the Ministry of Industry and Commerce to tackle issues of frauds.
Tamkeen has arranged for a lecture by the Directorate of Anti-Economic Crimes, Ministry of Interior, for its staff, to give them a comprehensive overview of the importance of reporting suspicious activities.
He said that Tamkeen reports suspicious cases to the Directorate of Anti-Economic Crimes, Ministry of Interior, who conduct their own investigation. Based on this investigation, the cases might be forwarded to Public Prosecution.
