Bahrain Education Ministry starts distributing laptops to needy students

The Ministry of Education has started distributing laptops to needy students, Secretary-General of the Royal Humanitarian Foundation (RHF) and Chairman of the “Feena Khair” Campaign, Dr Mustafa Al-Sayed, announced.

 The move is based on the decision of the Government Executive Committee, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, entrusting the RHF to form a committee to oversee the distribution of funds donated within the “Feena Khair” Campaign, and in line with the initiatives approved by HM the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, National Security Advisor and RHF’s Board of Trustees Chairman, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Dr Al-Sayed said.

He indicated that the ‘Feena Khair’ Coordination Committee had coordinated with Education Ministry to provide 10,000 laptops to be distributed to Bahraini government schools’ students from needy families, in addition to the distribution of 2,500 laptops to the University of Bahrain students to ensure the continuity of the academic year 2020-2021 in which remote studying has been approved.

 On the occasion, Dr Al-Sayed extended sincere thanks and appreciation to HH Shaikh Nasser for launching the “Feena Khair” Campaign, and those who contributed to it to support national and humanitarian work during the exceptional circumstances resulting from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, stressing that the RHF, under HH Shaikh Nasser’s leadership, will continue delivering assistance to eligible people who have been affected by the pandemic, as well as implementing development projects that benefit the Bahraini society.

Education Minister, Dr Majid bin Ali Al-Nuaimi, lauded the “Feena Khair” Campaign, launched by HH Shaikh Nasser, to support the national efforts to combat the pandemic, noting that the campaign is by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s interest in students, in particular, and the citizens and residents, in general.

 Dr Al-Nuaimi also lauded HH Shaikh Nasser’s support for the efforts to ensure the continuity of the educational process, in line with his interest in needy segments, and in response to the recommendations to shift to e-learning so to provide education for students, while protecting their health and safety.

 He also praised the role played by the RHF, and Dr Mustafa Al-Sayed to ensure the success of the “Feena Khair” Campaign and achieve its economic, social and cultural goals.

 Assistant Undersecretary for General and Technical Education at the Ministry of Education, Latifa Al-Bonoodha, commended HH Shaikh Nasser’s support for needy students, and keenness to ensure they receive laptops, like their colleagues, highlighting the success of the “Feena Khair” Campaign.

 She affirmed that the donated laptops are distributed to public school students by precise criteria that contribute to ensuring that they are granted to the groups that really need them.

 Al-Bonoodha praised the on-going cooperation and coordination with the RHF and the ‘Feena Khair’ Coordination Committee.
