The first working team meeting of the Bahrain Chamber chaired by Mr Yousuf Salahuddin discussed the publication a book to document the journeys of Bahrainis to Indian cities during the period extending from the outset of the 19th century to the end of the 20th century. It will showcase the important role of the businessmen, intellects and scientists during this historical period and the trade relationships with the Arabian Gulf ports, the Indian sub-continent, the African coasts, the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea. These journeys left an impact on the urban and civic life in the Kingdom of Bahrain and encouraged the growth and prosperity of the Kingdom as a commercial and scientific centre thus becoming attractive for many different ethnicities to live. This bolstered trade between both sides encouraged business and fostered cultural exchange.
The board of directors of the Bahrain Chamber resolved that the book will be published in 2021 to ensure that this movement between the countries will be documented and not lost or forgotten.
The Chamber revealed that the team will conduct interviews, review the literature, and gather pictures and documents to be included in the content of this historical book. The team calls for all those who possess any such relevant information or content to reach out to them at bahrainrecords@bahrainchamber.bh
The Bahrain Chamber Team consists of Mr Yousuf Salahuddin as the Chairman with the following members; Mr Faeq Juma Mandeel, Mr Nabeel Abdulrahman Ajoor and Mr Khalid Almerbati as the coordinator.
"I would like to thank the Chairman Sameer Nass and the Board for the imitative of documenting the history of Indian businessmen in the book. This is an important project as it will highlight the deep relations between India and Bahrain," said The National Trading House WLL CEO Bob Thaker.
