King Hamad Global Centre inaugurates declaration of Bahrain in South America

The King Hamad Global Center for Peaceful Coexistence, in cooperation with the Embassy of Bahrain in Brasilia, inaugurated the declaration of Bahrain in South America in the presence of Brazilian President, Jair Bolsonaro, yesterday.

The inauguration, promoting tolerance, peaceful coexistence and religious rapprochement, took place in a ceremony organised by the Center in Brasilia.

His Majesty the King inaugurated the Declaration of Bahrain in the year 2017. Brazil’s embassy in Manama The colours of Bahrain’s flag were projected over the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro to mark the declaration and the Anniversary of His Majesty the King’s accession to the throne and Bahrain’s celebration of its National Days.

In his inaugural address, the Brazilian President announced the opening of his country’s embassy in Manama to boost bilateral relations.

The centre aims to spread the principles of moderation and the spirit of brotherhood among people of all faiths and beliefs, Abdullah bin Faisal bin Jabr Al Dossari, the Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs, said. Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the King Hamad Global Center for Peaceful Coexistence, Dr Shaikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, said the Declaration of Bahrain calls for ending religious extremism.

This, he said, should be done by respecting religious freedoms, promoting peaceful coexistence and tolerance and adopting them as a basic road map for a brighter and more prosperous future for humankind.

Dr Shaikh Khalid said Bahrain is looking forward to deepening its ties with the countries of South America, based on the values of tolerance, coexistence and mutual respect between all peoples and regions.
