Shopkeepers placing their products on-display outside their shops, on footpaths and the roads, are up for trouble in Muharraq. Authorities have decided to book those who encroach upon the areas outside their shops. Muharraq has initiated a campaign jointly with the Department of Control and Inspection, and the Department of Follow-up of Cleaning Services.
Violators will face legal actions as per Public Road Works Law and Cleanliness Law No. (10) of 2019 and related executive regulations. Following a campaign, inspectors said they detected at least seven types of violations and took necessary corrective measures. Officials also educated the shopkeepers on the need to adhere strictly to regulations to keep the city clean.
The municipality of Muharraq also called upon the owners of commercial shops not to display goods outside shops, without a prior approval and also urged shop owners to cooperate with the municipality in maintaining public premises cleanliness.
