HRH Prince Salman officially opens Saar Interchange

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today visited the interchange at Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Highway and Isa bin Salman Highway to mark its official opening.
The interchange is one of Bahrain's key infrastructure development projects, which aims to expand the Kingdom's main road network and develop the first-class infrastructure across Bahrain.
Commenting on the Kingdom's forward-looking infrastructure projects, His Royal Highness underlined the economic benefits an advanced road network system brings towards bolstering economic productivity, in line with the vision of HM the King.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister highlighted Bahrain's commitment to sustainable urban development that yields real community benefits, creates new economic opportunities, and facilitates traffic flow.
HRH Prince Salman continues to implement plans to develop the major strategic road network in order to enhance the economic and urban renaissance and contribute to increasing the flow of traffic in the kingdom.
Later, His Royal Highness was briefed by HE Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalif, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Development Projects and Infrastructure, on the interchange, at Riffa Palace.
The interchange is another strategic road network project that will increase safety and traffic flow at the intersection between Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Highway and Shaikh Isa bin Salman Highway, and increase vehicle capacity per hour from 900 to 3,600 - an aggregate daily increase of 173,000 and an aggregate hourly increase of 11,000.
HE Shaikh Khalid noted that the project includes the construction of an overpass with two lanes to increase traffic flow between North Manama, Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman highway, and Riffa and Isa Town East via Shaikh Isa bin Salman Street. HE went on to highlight the 5-lane expansion of Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Highway, taking place on both sides of the highway next to Shaikh Isa bin Salman highway and Budaiya.
HE Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy, and HE Eng. Essam bin Abdullah Khalaf, Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, were also in attendance for the briefing.
