Council’s permanent panels elected

Speaker of the Council of Representatives Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al-Mulla has lauded the democratic practices reflected in the election of the council’s permanent committees during its first extraordinary meeting of the second session of the Fourth Legislative Term, held here yesterday.

Al-Mulla said that the election of the permanent committee members proved the advanced democratic level reached by the kingdom at all levels, in line with the directives of the leadership within the framework of HM King Hamad’s Reform Project.

 

He added that the Representatives Council would focus on enacting key laws and legislation and address major issues.

 

During the meeting, members of the councils’ permanent committees were elected. Then, the elected committees held their meetings and elected their chairpersons and deputies.

 

The Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee will be chaired by MP Ali Hassan Al-Otaish, with Anas Ali Bu-Hindi as Deputy Chairman. MPs Jamad Dawood Salman, Khalid Abdulaziz Al-Shaer, Isa Ahmed Turki, Fatima Al-Asfoor, Majid Ibrahim Al-Majid and Mohammed Jaafar Milad are members.

 

The Financial and Economic Affairs Committee is chaired by Abdulrahman Buali. Meanwhile, Jalal Kadhim Hassam is the Deputy Chairman, and Ahmed Qarata, Adel Abdul Hussain, Ali Isa Bu Farsan, Majeed Al-Asfoor, Mohammed Al Emadi and Mohammed Salman Al-Ahmed are members.

 

Abdulla bin Huwail was elected chairman of the Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Committee, with Mohammed Hassan Al-Jowdar as Deputy Chairman. Jamal Bu Hassan, Khalifa Al-Ghanim, Dheyab Al-Nuaimi, Abdulrahman Bumajeed and Nabil Al-Balushi are members.

 

The Services Committee will be chaired by MP Abbas Al-Madhi, with Mohammed Al-Maarifi as Deputy Chairman, and Osama Al-Khaja, Jameela Al-Sammak, Rua Al-Hayki, Ali Al-Moqla and Isa Al-Kohaji as members.

 

 

MPs Adel Al-Asoomi and Mohsen Al-Bakri will be the chairman and deputy chairman of the Public Utilities and Environment Committee, respectively, whereas MPs Ibrahim Al-Hammadi, Hamad Al-Dossari, Abdulhameed Ahmed, Ghazi Al-Rahma and Nasser Al-Qaseer will be the panel members.
