SECURITY CHIEF SATISFIED OVER BIC SAFETY STANDARDS

Public Security Chief Major General Tariq Hassan Al Hassan visited the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) yesterday, accompanied by senior officers.

He attended the final drill conducted by the Public Security Forces ahead of the 2015 Gulf Air Bahrain F1 Grand Prix, scheduled to be held on April 17, 18 and 19.

Major-General Al Hassan was briefed on the deployment of patrols, security checkpoints and the level of preparedness ahead of the international sporting event.

In a statement, he said the plans would be implemented on the ground professionally. He also said the security forces had acquired knowhow and expertise over the past editions of the F1 championships.

He paid tribute to the leadership for their keenness in ensuring the event’s success, and referred to the directives by HE Minister of Interior Lt-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa to take all pre-emptive and precautionary measures to maintain security across Bahrain.

“Police forces have completed all preparations and put in place emergency and alternative plans to ensure quick response to deal with any incident and bring the situation under control immediately,” he said, stressing the need to ensure the success of the race to reaffirm Bahrain’s standing.

He said policemen would be deployed around the Bahrain International Circuit and on the highways and avenues leading to the venue to ensure a smooth flow of traffic and  to maintain security and public order.
