Claims of Royal Bahraini Air Force jets violating Qatari airspace were refuted by Bahrain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs terming it as “irresponsible and baseless”.
Qatari authorities had claimed that four fighters from the Royal Bahraini Air Force breached their airspace on 9th December 2020.
The ministry said that on the said date Bahraini jets were holding a military drill alongside the US jets in the airspace of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Two F-16 aircraft from the Royal Bahraini Air Force and two from the US took part in the drill held in a designated military exercise area.
Following the drill, the ministry said the jets flew through Saudi Arabian airspace to land at Isa base in Bahrain.
“It’s the usual exit route towards the airspace of Bahrain,” the ministry statement explained.
The ministry also affirmed that the aircraft had not violated the Qatari airspace as claimed and always perform drills professionally without breaching international borders.
