Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa has conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to officers and personnel of the Muharraq Governorate Police Directorate and all the residents of the governorate. He said that HM the King loves and appreciates the citizens of Muharraq.

The Minister was speaking during his visit to the Muharraq Police Directorate, where he was welcomed by Chief of Public Security Lieutenant-General Tariq Al Hassan and Muharraq Governor Salman bin Hindi Al Mannai. The visit aimed to implement the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

The Minister conveyed HRH Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s thanks and appreciation to the Muharraq Governorate’s residents and the officials of the district’s security authorities for their role in the protection of the region. The Minister valued highly HRH Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s care and follow-up of the fishermen’s cases and their compensations.

The Coast Guard continues to receive them to list damages because of maritime terrorism they encountered against their livelihoods. The Minister thanked the Muharraq Governor for his efforts and sincere remarks, expressing the residents’ patriotic feelings.

The Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa said that Muharraq Governor Salman bin Hindi Al Mannai expressed Muharraq and their families’ protest regarding the abusive information aired by the Qatari Al Jazeera channel. The media outlet had alleged that Muharraq Police Directorate follows illegal practices.

The Minister expressed his regret over the news allegations made by British parliamentarians, asserting that none of the directorates had been centres for torture or maltreatment. “In fact, we should be proud of the security accomplishments of the Muharraq Governorate for having the lowest crime rates among other governorates,” he added.

The Minister said that the visit was an opportunity to thank the Director-General of Muharraq Governorate Police, heads of police stations and all officers, commissioned officers and other ranks for their sincere efforts. He hailed the directorate’s distinguished police programmes, such as the Family Protection Centre and the community police programme within the community concept framework.

He continued that the programmes’ success encouraged the Interior Ministry to showcase it to security guests interested in enhancing police performance. He highlighted that the programmes are currently being rolled out on the governorates’ remaining police directorates. He also thanked the former Director-General of Muharraq Governorate Police, Brigadier Fawaz Al Hassan for supervising these successful programmes.

As the issue is a matter that touches the security of Muharraq, he said: “It should be known that any form of harm to Muharraq is a harm to all of us, as Muharraq is the origin, and anyone who doesn’t protect his origin, then there is no good in him.” He added: “Personally, I’m part of what happens to Muharraq as I’m the son of Muharraq, the beating heart of Bahrain national identity, through its rich history in the hearts of people.”

The Minister said that people of Bahrain are an extension to the hard work of the heroic men for their sacrifices to protect the security of their country.
