Boosting Bahrain-Philippines ties

Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani received a written letter addressed to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa from Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, on friendship and cooperation between the two friendly countries.

This took place as the Foreign Minister yesterday received in his office at the Ministry’s General Court the Special Envoy of the President of the Philippines, Presidential Assistant on Foreign Affairs and Chief of Presidential Protocol, Robert Eric Borje, who is on an official visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The Foreign Minister welcomed the Philippine envoy, expressing the Kingdom’s pride in the strong bilateral relations it shares with the Philippines. He commended continuous development and progress of joint ties at all levels, under the directives of His Majesty the King and the Philippine President, and the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

He stressed that the continuation of the mutual visits between the officials of the two countries reflects their common desire to develop bilateral action between them in a way that benefits the two friendly countries and people.

The Foreign Minister also appreciated the efforts of the Filipino community and labour and their estimated contributions to the process of development and growth in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

For his part, Borje conveyed the greetings of the Philippine President and the government, as well as their appreciation for the development of the friendship and joint cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

He also praised the care and attention enjoyed by the Filipino community in Bahrain, and the comprehensive health care and services provided by the Kingdom’s government for citizens and residents to counter the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
