His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, has urged ministries and government agencies to study the implementation of the Government Innovation Competition (Fikra) third edition’s winning projects.

The creative ideas behind the projects will continue to promote innovation, enhance productivity, strengthen public sector efficiency, and support the Kingdom’s comprehensive development, led by HM the King, HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister noted as he chaired yesterday’s weekly Cabinet meeting, held remotely.

This came as the Cabinet praised the high level of participation during the third Fikra edition, which reflects how the vision and objectives of the competition are being achieved.

Fikra supports a culture of creativity and innovation by empowering public sector employees to put forward ideas and proposals that meet the Kingdom’s aspirations to increase the efficiency of government services, aligned to the principles of the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 and the 2019-2022 Government Action Plan.

The Cabinet reviewed a memorandum from the Executive Committee regarding qualified applicants to the final stage of Fikra, and the progress in the implementation of the winning ideas from the previous editions of the competition.

The Cabinet also praised HM the King’s patronage of the “King Hamad Award for Youth Empowerment to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals”, which aims to promote and reward youth-led sustainable development initiatives globally.

In this regard, it congratulated the winners of the Award, in its third edition. The Cabinet also welcomed the 41st Gulf Cooperation Council Summit, to be hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia today, and wished its success. During the meeting, the Cabinet discussed the approval of a number of memorandums.
