Bahrain International Airport expansion project complete

Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, yesterday reviewed the Airport Expansion Project and the new Passenger Terminal Building ahead of its opening on January 28.
The visit was in line with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Upon arrival, the Interior Minister was welcomed by Transportation and Telecommunication Minister Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, Chief of Public Security and Interior Ministry officials.
The minister was informed about the security readiness and logistic preparations of the building, security procedures, and modern technology to process travel documents and provide security and customs services.
He highlighted that the expansion project represents a development landmark of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s prosperous era.
The minister stressed that security readiness and modern technologies would facilitate the travel process and tourism in Bahrain.
He was also briefed about the security directorates’ preparations to provide a comprehensive security system for operations to reinforce security and safety.
The minister also visited the operations room complete with smart systems and was briefed about training courses provided to staff in cooperation with the Royal Academy of Police and the Gulf Air Training Academy.
He was informed about the readiness of Airport Passport Section that operates through 44 cabins.
The section includes cabins for special needs and 22 e-gates that work through fingerprint and facial recognition, in addition to six cabins to process the paperwork of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority.
He was also informed about the Customs Affairs’ preparations to provide integrated services through modern technology.
