Focus on developing infrastructure in Muharraq

Works Ministry has given directives to prepare preliminary designs for establishing a nursery and car parks in Complex 221 in the Busaiteen area in Muharraq.

Essam Khalaf, the Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, also directed the municipal authorities to identify more areas in Muharraq suitable for establishing playgrounds.

Minister Khalaf was on a field visit to the second constituency in Muharraq, with MP Ibrahim Khaled Al-Nafei.

Sheikh Muhammad bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, the Undersecretary for Municipal Affairs, Shawqia Humaidan, the Assistant Undersecretary for Joint Municipal Services, Hassan Al-Dawi, a member of the Municipal Council, and ministry officials were present.

On a new walkway in the Busaiteen, Khalaf said, “The ministry is expanding its area by adding toys and plants and is replacing the floor of the walkway.”

“Authorities are currently installing equipment for exercises,” the minister said, adding, “A study is also ongoing to identify the level of lighting on the streets.” “All gates of the Busaiteen Park have been closed for it is being misused by visitors,” the minister said.

“The ministry is working to include its maintenance in the 2021 budget,” Khalaf said.

The minister also discussed the issues of abandoned houses in Complex 203. Khalaf pointed out that the project is now with the Ministry of Housing and that the works ministry is currently working on the Cities and Villages Development Project (maintenance).

Khalaf also clarified that there is a joint committee working on “collective housing.” This committee has monitored 94 housing in Complex 203.

Khalaf also said the ministry spent 100 thousand dinars for maintaining roads in Complex 221 during the past few years.
