Global e-learning meet to commence on Sunday

The fifth International e-Learning Conference, the biggest scientific event to be hosted by the kingdom and patronised by Deputy Premier and President of the Supreme Council for Education and Training Development Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa.

Organised by the University of Bahrain (UoB)'s Zain e-Learning Centre, the three-day conference will kick-off tomorrow at 9am and run until October 20. A group of international e-learning experts will discuss the best means to develop e-learning through more than 100 research papers selected among 150.



Themed "Cognitively informed technology", the conference will try to explore the prospects for creative learning and mental stimulation in e-learning.
 Shaikh Mohammed will attend the opening session of the conference, alongside the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, Education Minister Dr. Majid bin Ali Al-Nuaimi, officials, representatives of the Legislative Branch, experts and academics.



Commenting on the event, UoB President Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Janahi said that the biennial conference represented an outstanding regional and international scientific gathering bringing together scientifically acclaimed researchers and experts from all over the world.



Dr. Janahi said that six world prominent e-learning experts would take part in the conference, in addition to over 400 researchers, specialists and academics from about 40 countries.



During the opening ceremony, the winners of the GCC Secretariat-General's awards for designing and developing e-courses will be announced.



A special exhibition of e-learning technology will be held on the sidelines of the conference. Exhibitors include Majmaah University, Pearson Company, Wiley, the IEEE, the e-Government Authority, Zain Bahrain, Bin Hindi, Al-Zayani Commercial Services, the King Abdulaziz University for Science and Technology, Al-Moayyad Group, Al-Ayam Press and Printing, McGraw-Hill companies, Track Learning Solutions, Studio Master and the Kingdom's Trophies.
