Based on Edict 1/2021 issued by the Representative of HM the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, regulating the holding of sports events, the Youth and Sports Affairs Ministry today issued a circular.
In the circular, the Youth Ministry requested sports federations, national clubs, Bahrain Paralympic Committee and all public youth and sports entities in the kingdom to provide it with a list of all their sports events in 2021.
Under the circular, they should also fill in forms to request holding such events, in addition to the precautionary measures they will put in place during those events.
The requests will then be examined by the competent authorities, and the decisions regarding them will be sent to them afterwards.
It is to be noted that the Representative of HM the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, yesterday issued Edict 1/2021, regulating the holding of sports events.
According to the edict, no sporting events shall be held in the Kingdom without obtaining the prior approval of the Youth and Sports Affairs Ministry’s Legal Affairs and Licensing Directorate, which is the competent authority concerned with issuing approval for holding such events.
The Legal Affairs and Licensing Directorate shall refer any request to hold a sporting event to the competent security and health authorities, and coordinate with the National Medical Taskforce to Combat the Coronavirus (COVID-19) in order to obtain the approval for holding the event.
The Legal Affairs and Licensing Directorate shall then contact those who submitted the request to inform them about the decision made by the competent authorities regarding their demand.
