Bahrain to attend IPU session

A legislative delegation led by Parliament Chairman Ahmed Al Mulla will attend the 133rd session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), set to open tomorrow and run until October 22 in Geneva, Switzerland.

The GCC and Arab Groups will hold coordination meetings today to unify stances regarding the issues featuring on the (IPU) session. The Asian and Islamic Groups will also hold coordination meetings today to coordinate stances regarding issues of mutual concern.

First Deputy Speaker Al Aradi took part in the meetings of the IPU Human Rights Committee, being a key member in the panel. The delegations discussed issues featuring on the agenda.

Al Aradi was elected as member of the Human Rights Committee on the sidelines of the 132nd IPU session, which was held in Vietnam.

Bahrain thus became the first GCC state and the 3rd Arab country to sit on the human rights committee ever since the IPU was established in 1889.
