Bahrain participates in International Day of Human Fraternity

The Kingdom of Bahrain participated in the celebration of the first edition of the International Day of Human Fraternity, which was organized virtually in New York by the Permanent Mission of the UAE, Egypt, the United Nations Alliance of Civilisations and the Supreme Committee for Human Fraternity.

During his intervention in the celebration, the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations in New York, Ambassador Jamal Faris Al-Ruwaie, affirmed that Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, has undertaken many initiatives to promote a culture of peace and brotherhood.

He cited particularly the Isa Award for Service to Humanity, that aims to reward the contributions of those who want to change the world for the better and achieve a better humane world for future generations.

He added that Bahrain has established the King Hamad International Center for Peaceful Coexistence, King Hamad Center for Cyber Peace, and the King Hamad Chair for Interfaith Dialogue and Peaceful Coexistence at the Italian University of Sapienza.

He highlighted the launch of the international prizes in several fields such as empowering women and youth, achieving development goals, sustainable education, and service to humanity, which contributes to promoting a culture of peace and achieving security for the people around the world.

He pointed the adoption by the United Nations General Assembly of Resolution 73/329, which is declared on the 5th of April of each year as an International Day of Conscience, which the United Nations adopted on the initiative of the late Prime Minister, His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa.

The Permanent Representative emphasised that the historic adoption of Resolution 75/200 which is declared on the 4th of February as the International Day of Human Fraternity, that Bahrain participated in presenting along with Saudi Arabia, UAE and Egypt, is evidence of the international community’s interest in promoting a culture of peace and interfaith.
