A top medical practitioner in Bahrain has blamed a lack of commitment to precautionary measures as the prime reason for the remarkable increase in Coronavirus (Covid-19) cases.

Dr Iman Attia, a family medicine consultant, said complacency and laxity in practising preventive measures have led to a noticeable increase in the number of existing cases.

“We call upon all members of society to show social responsibility by adhering to instructions, guidelines and precautionary measures at all times,” the doctor said.

Dr Iman said the national vaccination campaign is progressing fast to address the pandemic.

Bahrain is also one of the first countries that is providing vaccination for Coronavirus (Covid-19).

Highlighting the Kingdom’s fight against the pandemic, Dr Iman said the national medical team was keen to deal with the Coronavirus right from the beginning itself, by avoiding large gatherings and wearing masks.

The doctor also called on all to wear masks and leave houses only when it is necessary.

She also urged all to wash hands continuously and sterilise surfaces periodically, explaining that these procedures and guidelines contribute to protecting all groups of society from the repercussions and dangerous complications of this virus, especially the elderly, patients with chronic diseases, children and pregnant women.

“My message to you is that for the sake of Bahrain and the sake of our people and our loved ones, we should all carry out our patriotic duty by showing commitment and responsibility.”
