In spite of higher than normal temperatures in general, the Kingdom of Bahrain was affected from January 21 to 23 by a cold wave accompanied by a marked decrease in temperature and active to strong northwest winds, and the reason for this was the formation of an air height bearing a cold air mass in the direction of the northern parts of the Arabian Peninsula and the Arabian Gulf.

The average wind speed for January was 9 knots.

The prevalence of northwest winds reached 48% during January.

The wind gust reached 36 knots on January 21 at Bahrain International Airport.
