Youth and Sports Affairs Minister Ayman bin Tawfiq Al-Moayyad has stressed that the National Action Charter (NAC) was the outcome of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s insightful vision to bring about reforms and build the pillars of the modern state in Bahrain.
Under the pioneering Reform Project, HM the King consolidated the principles of continuous reform and development, through building on the existing accomplishments, and launching a comprehensive development process thanks to which Bahrain has attained milestone achievements across various fields, the minister said.
In a statement to the Bahrain News Agency (BNA), the minister extended sincere congratulations to HM King Hamad, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and the Bahraini people on the 20th anniversary of the National Action Charter, which will be celebrated on February 14.
Al-Moayyad stressed that the adoption of the National Action Charter by a sweeping majority reflected the best image of the deep-rooted leadership-people cohesion, noting that NAC was the basis for building Bahrain’s present and future, as it paved the way for the kingdom to enter an era of reforms, democracy and development.
He affirmed that the National Action Charter has put Bahrain on the path of comprehensive development in all fields, including the youth and sports movement which enjoys HM the King’s constant follow-up and support.
“The endorsement of the National Action Charter was of utmost importance to the youth and sports movement in the kingdom, as NAC paved the way for the development of national teams and clubs, increasing their participation in many regional, Asian and international gatherings, where they raised the national banners, achieved distinguished accomplishments and reached podiums,” he said.
He added that the youth and sports sector has made a quantum leap in the kingdom through the establishment of numerous sports facilities, citing the Bahrain International Circuit, the Isa Town Sports Hall, the Khalifa Sports City, in addition to stadiums and youth centres.
He asserted that thanks to its advanced sports facilities, and the international sports’ federations’ confidence in its distinguished organisational capabilities and qualified competencies, Bahrain has hosted many sports events, citing those related to motorsports, triathlon and mixed martial arts, thus becoming the capital of youth and sports.
