BACA competition reimagines Table and Chair
The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities announced the winners of a “Table and Chair” competition held in association with Dr Haus, a furnishing company
Karim Al Janoubi, Maryam Khaled Al Khalifa and Khaled Farhan emerged as winners of the competition, which determined their abilities to maintain form and function, sustainability, aesthetics and creativity in designing furniture.
The event witnessed healthy competition, with entries coming from all over Bahrain and abroad.
Karim Al Janoubi reimagined the purpose of a chair and a table by drawing inspiration from Dilmun civilization
As for Maryam Khalid Al Khalifa, she presented a work called “Corksi” - a furniture system made of lightweight cork that can form multiple pieces of chairs and small tables. The furniture also incorporates fun by allowing to shape in different ways.
Artist Khaled Farhan presented a model for a chair with an innovative artistic angle.
