Fighting the deadly COVID-19 pandemic is a collective responsibility which every individual in the Kingdom should fulfil, said a top public security official.

Brigadier Dr Shaikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, the Assistant Chief of Public Security for Operations and Training Affairs, called on all to adhere strictly to the COVID-19 precautionary measures.

“Preventing COVID-19 required self-awareness which starts with an individual and then family,” said Dr Sheikh Hamad. He also assured that the ministry of interior is making unremitting efforts to combat the virus through awareness and law enforcement campaigns focusing on restaurants, hotels and shops.

Dr Sheikh Hamad said, “The National Ambulance Centre, since the start of the pandemic, has responded to 6,123 calls, which constitutes 16% of the total reported COVID-19 cases.” The centre transferred infected people to designated places with a team armed with all necessary equipment.

Police directorates and departments of the Ministry of Interior carried out 6,386 awareness campaigns, registered 55,753 face mask related violations, and booked 8,364 people for not maintaining social distancing standards until March 4.

The Ministry of Transport Department, since the beginning of the pandemic, transported 76,102 cases.

The General Administration of Civil Defence carried out, until March 4, 199,073 disinfection and sterilisation campaigns and is also continuing to hold training courses on correct disinfection methods.

A total of 1,168 people from private institutions and companies and 1,051 from various government agencies took part in training programmes.

The number of volunteers since March 2020 reached approximately 6,062. The administration also supervised 1,413 disinfection and sterilisation operations with the help of volunteers.

Cleaning companies carried out 107 disinfection and sterilisation operations.
