Dy PM inaugurates Int’l e-Learning Conference

The opening ceremony of the fifth International e-Learning Conference, the biggest scientific event to be hosted by the kingdom. Deputy Premier and President of the Supreme Council for Education and Training Development Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa patronised at the University of Bahrain yesterday. 

Shaikh Mohammed expressed his delight at patronising the event titled "Cognitively informed technology" that includes the announcement of the winners of the GCC Secretariat-General's awards for designing and developing e-courses.

He said hosting the conference for the fifth time Bahrain and the massive participation of international e-learning experts in it confirms the Kingdom's advancement in the field of e-learning and progress of its technical expertise.

He added education based on innovation and creativity promoted the development process and prepared a qualified generation of citizens. It would enable them to deal with the future and envision it in contemporary ways, he said.

He highlighted that hosting such an important scientific event by the University of Bahrain (UoB) came in line with GCC leaders' directives.

He thanked UoB, Zain e-Learning Centre at UoB, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the organisers, whishing them further success.

Education Minister Dr. Majid Al Nuaimi pointed out in his speech the quantum leaps achieved by Bahrain in the fields of education and e-learning, through the initiatives of the National Education and Training Reform Project.

GCC Secretary-General Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani lauded Bahrain's efforts in enhancing joint GCC action on the educational level.

Zain e-Learning Centre screened a short film about e-learning reality in universities and partnerships.

The conference brought together 400 international e-learning specialists to address themes affecting e-learning.

UoB President Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Janahi asserted that the biennial conference represented an outstanding regional and international scientific gathering bringing together scientifically acclaimed researchers and experts from all over the world.
