Bahrain has lodged a formal complaint with the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs over Al Jazeera Channel’s latest hostile media campaign against the Kingdom.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent a note of protest to its Qatar counterpart, expressing the Kingdom’s strong condemnation of a TV programme entitled “Out of Context”, which was aired on the Doha-based Qatari channel Al Jazeera on March 7.
The film contained false information and allegations put forward by hired instigators, which Qatar, Gulf and Arab countries all know that they receive their orders from foreign parties showing ill intentions towards Bahrain and the GCC states.
The Ministry considered the film as being inconsistent with the principles of Al-Ula Summit Declaration.
It also expressed the dissatisfaction of Bahrain with the bad treatment that Bahraini fishermen receive from Qatari cost guards that goes against the human rights principles stipulated in international covenants, charters and laws, and threatens their livelihood.
The Ministry said that it considers these actions taken by Qatar towards Bahrain as unacceptable, as they contradict the principles of good neighbourliness, as well as the provisions and obligations of Al-Ula Declaration, which must be implemented by all signatory countries.
Despite this development, Bahrain remains hopeful for more positive stances and constructive policies from Qatar to help start bilateral talks in order to address pending issues and Al Jazeera Channel is orchestrating a hostile media campaign against Bahrain further improve relations.
