Faking name: Closing Arguments on Nov 15
Closing arguments will be heard on November 15 in the case of a public servant accused of forging his birth certificate. He reportedly committed the crime to add to his name, a locally famous family surname.
The accused reportedly wanted to be part of the heritage line of the family, and filed a civil lawsuit requesting the surname to be added.
But the family filed a counter lawsuit against him, and police discovered that the latter had provided the court a forged birth certificate.
According to court files, the accused was born in 1975 in a local hospital, and in 2011, he received a copy of his birth certificate from the same hospital.
He reportedly added the surname to his name in the document and later managed to have the document approved by the Ministry of Health.
But forgery experts deemed the document as rigged, and prosecutors sent the accused for trial before the High Criminal Court.
