Patient attacks doctors and security officers at Salmaniya Medical Complex emergency wing

Legal actions were taken against a patient at the Salmaniya Medical complex for attacking two doctors and a security official there yesterday, said the hospital administration.

According to the hospital, a frequent visitor to the Accident and Emergency Department was responsible for the melee.

He started abusing one of the doctors there, and when that doctor reported it to a person-in-charge, the patient resorted to attacking him physically.

 Hospital management said the patient attacked the doctor when he tried to calm him down.

The patient then continued his violent behaviour towards others at the department, also terrifying the patients there.

The patient also allegedly attacked the security officers at the department.

Hospital management said they took all legal measures to protect the staff working in the complex.

In a statement, Dr Ahmed Muhammad Al-Ansari, the CEO of Governmental Hospitals, affirmed that the Salmaniya Medical Complex administration ensures citizens the best health services but rejects such actions inconsistent with the behaviour of Bahrainis.

Dr Al Ansari also affirmed that the hospital would not refrain from taking legal actions to deter such activities.
