Family gatherings main cause for rise in COVID-19 cases in Bahrain

Family gathering is one of the main cause for the rise in COVID-19 cases in Bahrain, said Assistant Chief of Public Security for Operations and Training Affairs, Brigadier Dr Shaikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Khalifa.

He urged to continue complying with precautionary measures, especially indoors, such as work, places of worship and shops. He said that community awareness is the key to fight the virus. He revealed continuous monitoring by concerned directorates of the Interior Ministry of commitment to the precautionary measures to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

Dr Al Khalifa revealed the registration of 58,357 offences of not wearing face masks at public places and shops since the enforcement of the order. A total of 8,475 steps were taken to ensure social distancing, and 6,686 awareness campaigns were held until March 11. A total of 205,141 disinfection operations were carried out, and 1172 individuals from the private sector and 1051 from the public sector were trained on the correct disinfection methods.

The National Ambulance Centre dealt with 6777 virus-related cases, and the vehicles of the Transportation Directorate of the Interior Ministry carried 26026 transport activities and transferred 79594 cases.
