Disputes related to the use of domain name ‘.BH’ and ‘.Albahrain’ Internationalized Domain Name (IDN) will be managed by the Arab Centre for Dispute Resolution (ACDR).
Bahrain Telecommunications Regulatory Authority announced reaching an agreement with ACDR for organising and managing disputes concerning the domain name. “This will have a positive impact in making the domain name for the Kingdom of Bahrain trusted and reliable,” said Mohamed Alnoaimi, the Director of Technical & Operations of the TRA.
Majd Khaddash, the Director of the Center, said they would coordinate with complainants, respondents and registrars to complete the documentation for filing cases, in addition to the panellists adopted by the Center.
The Center provides services on domain names attributable to dispute management and approved by ICANN on the 18th of May, 2013.
She added: “ACDR maintains a leading position when it comes to implementing the Uniform Domain-Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP), along with its supplemental rules.” A dispute in relation to the domain name arises when any party registers an earlier trademark as their domain name.
It is necessary that the trademark of the complainant must be identical or confusingly similar to the second level domain of the disputed domain name.
