The High Criminal Court sentenced four Health Ministry employees to one year behind bars for manipulating their attendance record in order to add overtime hours on top of their original extra working hours, for which they received various amounts.
The four men were paid a total amount ranging between BD1,900 and BD600 each, and the High Criminal Court ordered them to return the money they unduly received.
On top of that, they were also fined equal amounts each for the crime.
The defendants were tried after they triggered suspicions for demanding to be paid extra for staying at work for extra hours.
They submitted their electronic attendance log as proof after they found a way to rig it. They were investigated and, later, tried for forgery and dishonesty.
