More than a hundred initiatives were launched by the Kingdom as part of the National Plan to Promote the Spirit of Belonging to the Nation and Reinforce the Values of Nationalism in the past two years, revealed Interior Minister.

The plan, launched in 2019, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa said, introduced 107 initiatives, of which the Kingdom completed 81% and fully activated 41%.

The ministry also revealed that the plan, despite the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, is proceeding as two parallel tracks.

“The first is for setting up an organisational framework to implement and maintain the plan initiatives, while the second is for activating them,” the minister and the Chairman of the Follow-up Committee added.

Shaikh Rashid was speaking during the second anniversary of the plan, which has five streams covering all sections of society. Each stream has initiatives implemented by various authorities under the supervision of the executive committee.

Protecting values

The national plan aims at protecting the authentic and traditional values and security and stability of the Kingdom by reinforcing the sense of belonging.

On this note, the minister thanked the leadership and people for rejecting the inciting calls, biased reports issued by foreign parties and organisations, and misleading media channels. “These calls were for spreading chaos and undermining national stability,” the minister said, adding, “Bahrain overcome them and emerged stronger.” The minister stressed: “This responsible Bahraini position is an affirmation of adherence to the national identity and responsibility in maintaining civil peace.” Bahrain, the minister said, believes in “coexistence and pluralism, which is an essential part of our civilisation and our culture and is evident from the vote on the National Action Charter years ago.”

“The National Plan to Promote the Spirit of Belonging to the Nation and Reinforce the Values of Nationalism moves ahead with this sincere feelings,” said the minister.

The ministry further revealed that the works of the plan are well documented and available digitally. “A total of 86 employees are handling the archives,” the minister said.

Present during the meeting were the Ministers of Education Labour, social development, health, media affairs, youth and sports, and the Undersecretary for the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning for Municipalities Affairs.
