A man who posed as a doctor will now spend a year in jail along with his accomplice.

Public Prosecution had charged them with practising medicine and running a home-based clinic without a licence.

The Minor Criminal Court also slapped them with a fine of BD2,000 dinars each.

The Court also ordered the deportation of the second suspect after the expiry of his jail terms.

The Head of the Public Prosecution for Ministries and Public Entities said that the incidents leading to the case occurred with the Public Prosecution receiving a notification from the National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA) regarding two men who had converted their home into a clinic.

NHRA found that the suspects were providing cosmetic services to clients without a licence in their home-based clinic.

The suspects were also using unregistered medical devices and medicines.

Based on the report, the Public Prosecution ordered an inquiry and issued a search warrant, leading to their arrest.

The arrests were recorded by the Commission’s Judicial Control Officer in conjunction with the General Department of Investigation and Evidence.

Investigators recovered twelve medical devices and a large number of medicines from the house of the suspects.
