75 years of India’s Independence: Indian Embassy in Bahrain holds curtain-raiser

The Indian Embassy in Bahrain organised a curtain-raiser event yesterday to launch the celebrations of 75 years of India’s independence. The event was organised on a smaller scale due to the Covid-19 situation.
The embassy also live-streamed the event through its social media channels. Abdulnabi Al Sho’ala, the former Bahrain minister and a well-known Gandhian scholar, was the chief guest.
Yousuf Salahuddin, a prominent businessman and Chairman of the Bahrain Chambers Committee for recording Bahrainis presence in India, was the guest of honour.
Representatives of Indian Club Bahrain, Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam (BKS) and other Indian associations in Bahrain took part.
The event commenced with a floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and the planting of NEEM sapling by the Chief Guest at the Embassy premises. The event also included virtual cultural performances by the children.
The curtain raiser event will continue till 15 August 2023. Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, launched the inaugural event of “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” on 12th March 2021 in Ahmedabad.
This event kick-started 75 weeks countdown to the 75th anniversary of India’s independence on 15 August 2022.
The embassy will host a series of events over the next two years for the India@75 celebrations in partnership with the Indian associations in Bahrain, the government and concerned agencies in Bahrain.
