The directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to regulate online selling and support Bahrainis engaged in this business were met with a collective nod of approval from key officials in the government.

Industry, Commerce and Tourism Minister Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani expressed sincere thanks to HRH Prince Salman for his constant support for all sectors, particularly entrepreneurship, through keenness to provide all kinds of facilities to entrepreneurs.

This came as Al Zayani yesterday held a meeting with Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) Chairman Sameer Abulla Nass, in the presence of senior officials from the Ministry and BCCI.

The Minister cited HRH Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s directives to offer online sellers two regulation options: ‘Khatwa’, offered free of charge to families registered with the Ministry of Labour and Social Development, or virtual commercial registration via ‘Sijili’, which is a commercial registration that allows individuals to practise certain business activities without having to register an office address.

‘Sijili’ also grants the beneficiaries access to financial packages, including Tamkeen’s Business Continuity Programme, and competitive financial schemes.

Al Zayani said this proves HRH Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s close follow-up on everything related to the citizens and residents, adding that the directives are guidelines for the government officials’ daily work.

The Minister stressed the Industry Ministry’s keenness to implement HRH Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s directives and to coordinate with BCCI, the Labour and Social Development Ministry and other relevant entities to protect all parties, particularly consumers, in addition to devising plans to deal with any potential circumstances that the country may go through.

The BCCI head underlined the importance of HRH Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s directives to the government to cooperate with BCCI on everything aimed at stimulating economic growth and supporting the commercial and industrial sectors so that the progress march witnessed by the kingdom at all levels continues.
