Dr Shaikha Rania bint Ali Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Society for Children with Difficulty in Communication, has announced the launch of an annual awareness campaign under the slogan “Be With Me In My World – Unite With Autism” on the occasion of the coming World Autism Day.
The event aims to develop the capabilities of individuals and institutions concerned with autism and provide them with experience, skills and modern scientific knowledge in the field of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), as well as raise the creative level in teaching in line with the global changes in this field.
Shaikha Rania said the Society was keen to launch the campaign in conjunction with the International Day of Autism, which falls on the second day of April of each year.
She noted that this day brings together individuals and institutions concerned with autism from all over the world to cooperate in the fields of practical research, diagnosis, treatment, as well as awareness of autism disorder.
Shaikha Rania highlighted the need to improve the lives of children and adults who suffer from this disease, explaining that autism is a disease that is not limited to one region or one country, but rather it is a global challenge that requires global action.
The campaign includes the issuance of an autism awareness package for schools, which includes awareness lessons for the various stages of study in addition to school activities.
It aims to direct school officials to activate these lessons next month, indicating that the term “acceptance of the other” is the main goal of this package so that students may become aware of the concept of autism.
The Society has launched the help service through direct messages on its Instagram application.
