Bahrain's National Space Science Agency to host Women in STEM virtual event

Female perspectives on raising aspirations beyond the Earth and promoting widespread awareness among young women and girls on the prominent place that awaits them in STEM will be highlighted at a symposium on Wednesday.

The National Space Science Agency (NSSA), Bahrain’s flagship agency for its space pursuits, has called on STEM enthusiasts, teachers, parents and the youth to participate in the symposium dedicated to exploring new mindsets and missions on STEM Education with a specific focus on space science.

NSSA said that the symposium on March 31 would be about sharing, learning and celebrating the great potentials for women to achieve academic and professional excellence and be among the innovators in the space fields.

Four women who are making a mark in their respective STEM fields will be hosted by NSSA to address the event.

Sarah Cruddas (UK) -Space Journalist, TV Host and Award-Winning Author with a background in Astrophysics, Noora Al Saeed (UAE), Mars Scientist and PhD Student at CU Boulder, Ahlam Al Qasim (UAE), PhD student in Astrophysics at Mullard Space Science and Marwa Alalawi (Bahrain), an incoming graduate student of Mechanical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) make up the panel. 

This two-hour special symposium, in English and via Zoom, will also feature two keynote speeches – "How the Technology Revolution is Shaping Our Space Future" by Sarah Cruddas and "Investigating Space through Virtual Reality" by Marwa Alalawi.

They will be followed by a panel discussion and an open forum where the panellists will answer the participants' questions.
