Revamping Rayya highway: Phase 1 works to start

The first phase works of BD 12 million Rayya highway revamp project in Muharraq will begin soon, said Essam Khalaf, The Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning.
A tender for the project had received 17 bids, the Tender board earlier said.
The project expecting completion in eight-months is set to begin by the end of April 2021 and complete by December this year.
The three-phase project, the ministry said, is expected to ease the traffic flow and ensure quick access to surrounding areas.
The highway will get a makeover in a 1.2 km stretch after its intersection with the Arad Highway at Avenue 13 and Avenue 38 in the first phase.
Upon completion, the project will turn the highway into a two-lane street for a distance of 6 kilometres in each direction.
Work ministry said it completed land acquisition over the six-kilometre length and paid over 3.16 million dinars as compensations.
