Joint Arab action need of the hour: Bahrain Interior Minister tells Arab counterparts

Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa yesterday called for joint Arab action and innovative methods to face the growing security challenges, especially amid the exceptional circumstances caused by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Citing Bahrain’s success in battling the coronavirus pandemic, Shaikh Rashid highlighted the role the Interior ministry plays at the front lines, in law enforcement and implementing preventive measures.

“Facing these challenges is an essential part of the system of maintaining security and stability,” said Shaikh Rashid adding, “This situation increased the importance of exchanging Arab expertise and experiences in crisis management.

” The minister also highlighted the transformation in cybersecurity and the expansion of artificial intelligence in security and services.

Chairing Bahrain’s delegation during a virtual meeting of the 38th session of the Arab Interior Ministers Council, the minister asserted that the Arab security situation requires continued reinforcement of cooperation and coordination within the joint Arab work framework.

Saudi Interior Minister, Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif Al Saud, the council’s Honorary President, inaugurated the event.

The council approved the 10th Arab security proposal plan, the 8th Arab media proposal plan for security and crime prevention awareness, the 7th proposal plan of Arab traffic safety strategy for 2021-2023.

The meeting also approved forming a team of Arab experts to monitor and exchange information about terrorist threats.
